Thanksgiving Traffic Leads to Greater Risk of Accidents

According to Connecticut's Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, last Thanksgiving yielded about 5,000 arrests for DUI, speeding, and other dangerous moving violations. Even more alarming, however, is the nearly 1,000 accidents investigated by law enforcement, 97 of which caused injury, one of which was fatal.

These statistics reflect the holiday's heightened traffic throughout the state, and at Cicchiello & Cicchiello, LLP, our personal injury attorneys want to remind you to drive safely and remain constantly vigilant while traveling. State police is preparing to increase their on-duty patrol units and focus on aggressive, unsafe, and drunk drivers.

State police is asking residents to be extra cautious throughout the long Thanksgiving weekend, especially to follow all laws and refrain from driving if you have been drinking. They also encourage you to remind all young drivers and college students to drive safely and soberly. Finally, should you notice a drunk driver, call 911 immediately to report it.

Stay safe this holiday weekend and have a happy Thanksgiving!
